Design-Led Innovation

At the Design Management Institute’s: 2020 ADM Conference, I presented a pioneering vision for innovation systems design which is democratized, data-driven, collaborative, and highly agile. This paper was later published in dmi:Journal.

VoiceTech 2030

In partnership with OMERS Ventures, the venture capital arm of $100B+ pension plan OMERS, I led the exploration of the future of voice technology into 2030, including horizon scanning, scenario design, future markets, and industry insights. Ultimately, leading to 30+ inbound investment opportunities.

The Future of Personalized Healthcare

This Association of Professional Futurists award-winning project explored the care landscape into 2040, including strategy work reenvisioning 23andMe and an experiential future bringing a dystopian health future to life well before COVID-19 emerged.

I co-led the development of an innovation project exploring how to meet the needs of women in cities. Our work was presented at the Hult Prize regional qualifier.

A 7-person startup I founded exploring how to new business models and solutions in urban agriculture and food system sustainability. Our products represented Canada at the International Business Model Competition in Provo, Utah, won the Ontario Government’s ShareON Design Jam, and were exhibited at the CNE’s Innovation Garage and InnovationTO 150.

A holistic reimagining of the role of a pension in members’ lives across their core needs and journey, involving 40+ ethnographic member and expert interviews, market research, concept design, and systems and futures thinking. BOA has been presented to the OMERS Board of Directors and actively informs OMERS innovation strategy.

I was the lead narrative designer and co-developer of A.void, a virtual reality game which tasks VR, kiosk, and phone users to collaboratively hack into a cybervault. This game was an experiment in multi-modal control systems for VR and building informal communities in social spaces.

I contributed to a rapid prototyping process, writing and storytelling, project management, interaction design, and visual design of a multi-award-winning physical audio-visual installation exhibited at Mississauga’s Celebration Square.

I co-led an innovation strategy process for Craft Ontario, which supports professional makers, craftspeople, artists and designers across Ontario.

My team and I presented a ten-year strategy, broken into gated milestones for the Irish construction materials supplier Kingspan at the Rotman Design Challenge. Our strategy involved a push for services, sustainability, and urban analytics.
